AFFIDAVIT OF SHRI KARAMJIT SINGH S/O S. SANT SINGH AGED 20 YEARS, R/O M-35, KIRTI NAGAR, NEW DELHI. 

      I, Karamjit Singh, the above named deponent do hereby solemnly affirm and state as under:

1. On 1^st November, 1984 it was normal till 12 O’clock.  After that a few young men came on scooters and other vehicles.  These people instigated those poor people, who had come out of the Gurdwara after having langar.,  They burnt the Gurdwara first.  After that they looted five or six shops of Sikhs and then they burnt those shops.  It continued till 4 P.M. at Kirti Nagar. After that a few Hindu people came out of their houses and tried to stop them from looting and arson.  We telephoned so many times to Fire Brigade for help but they paid no attention to our requests
2. The Hindus and Sikhs of area formed defence committees and defended the area.  No outsiders or mob was permitted to enter the area.  All entrances were blocked.  The local Hindus guarded the area day and night.  As a result there was no incidents of loot and arson in our residential area.
