Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission

I, Parkash Kaur W/o Late Harnam Singh, aged 60 years, r/o RZ-49, Mahavir Enclave, New Delhi, presently residing at Tent No. 40, Hari Nagar Relief Camp do hereby solemnly affirm and state as under: -

1.                  On 1-11-84 morning Lekh Raj resident of Safarpur came to our house, and informed us that in his colony during the previous night there had been cases of Sikhs being burnt and killed, looting and arosn and he advised us to move away from our residence to some safer place, as the trouble was likely to spread in our colony as well. I immediately left for Indra Park to warn my sons who resided there about the impending danger and stayed for the night there. My son Kuldip Singh came back home in the evening.

2.                  On 2-11-84, I left Indra Park and on the way of my house in Mahavir Enclave, I saw four dead bodies of the Sikhs who had been slain. Seeing them, I decided to go back to Indra Puri to tell my son to stay back there and in no case follow me to Mahavir Enclave. As I had gone a little distance I saw my son Kuldip Singh coming from the other side and a big mob ‘goondas’ chasing him. As he came near me I saw some men of the mob catching hold of him and shouted, “If you get your hair cut we shall not harm you and let you go.” I heard my son refusing the offer but I saw them forcibly cutting his hair. Then I saw them hit him with iron rods. He bled profusely; then I saw them pour kerosene oil and some chemical powder on his body and burnt him alive. All this time I was wailing and crying and entreating the hoodlums but to no avail, they were dancing and prancing around. I recognize very well the miscreants who attacked my son and burnt him alive and their names are given hereunder: -

a.      Gambhir – who is a driver, living in Mahabir Enclave.

b.      Chander Bhan Garhwali – who cut my son’s hair and then beat him and killed him.

The above two persons, I definitely know and recognize. The others also, I would identify if they are produced before me.

3.                  Later, I learnt that my husband Harnam Singh had also been killed in Mahavir Enclave, and our house there had also been looted and burnt.
