I, Jasbir Singh S/o. Chanan Singh aged 38 years r/o Z-258/18-A, Rajnagar, Palam Colony, Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under:- 1. On 1-11-1984, at about 9.30 AM, we were watching T.V. in our house when a mob of 200-250 men came there and immediately after reaching there they attacked the Gurdwara and set it on fire. 2. My house is close to the Gurdwara. The mob came to my house started breaking windowpanes and hurling abuse at me. They were shouting “Sardaro Bahar Niklo”, “Khoon Ka Badla Khoon Se Lenge” etc. (O’ Sardars come out, we will take blood for blood etc) 3. At that time we were ten persons in our house. Some relatives from Punjab had come. They had to catch the flight for Iraq in the evening. Their money was lying with me and I had to deposit them in the office. We got frightened when the mob started breaking the doors. When they entered into the rooms and attacked us we ran upstairs. The mob looted our house and burnt our house. 4. When the mob left our place we came down and started extinguishing the fire. At about 10 a.m. police also came there. There were 3-4 constable with the SHO Rohtas Singh, whom we made a request to help us. He said “ you people have killed Indra”. I replied that I had not taken any part in her assassination. Then the SHO said “May you all be destroyed” I did not make any reply. 5. The SHO told all the Sikhs to come out, otherwise all the houses would be burnt and all men killed. We, who were about 20 in number collected outside the Gurdwara by that time about 2000 men had come to attack us and they started throwing stones on us. Though we were feeling frightened, yet we had been trying to defend us. The man in the mob had iron bars and same sized sticks in their hands. Besides that, they had cans of kerosene oil, some white powder and lists. Three-four persons were carrying liquor bottles in their hands. That mob was being led by Balwan Khokher, who runs a depot of kerosene oil. He is a Congress (I) worker. Another Congress worker Mohinder Yadav was also with him. 6. We saw policemen also with this mob. We shouted for help from the police, who assured us that they will settle the matter. On the suggestion of the SHO we went back. S. Nirmal Singh was also with us at that time. Balwan Khokhar asked Nirmal Singh to sit behind him on the pillion of his motor cycle and he said ” come on, we will settle your matter at once”. 7. I had already got my long hair cut. I took of my turban and followed Nirmal Singh. When they reached the road crossing, jeep of Sajjan Kumar also came there at 11.a.m. On seeing them Balwan Khokar stopped his motor-bike. Sajjan Kumar enquired from Khokhar in my presence as to what was the position. Balwan Khokhar replied that they looted and burnt the houses. Sajjan Kumar then said “Now start killing”. Thereafter they started beating Nirmal Singh, the men the mob started shouting “Maro, Jalao” (Beat and Burn). When Nirmal Singh was beaten with iron rods he fell down. They untied his turban and tied him with a pillar post and then set him on fire. 8. At that time Sajjan Kumar was watching and saying “Salon Ko Khub Maro, Inko Jala do” (Beat these people and burn them alive). The following were the persons among killers:- Mangat Ram, Bitoo, Raju, Pandit, Hukam Chand they killed Sardars in my presence. They used to drag out Sardars out of their house and gave blows in the head. When the Sardar fell down these people put oil on him and burn him. Where there was a motor cycle with any Sardar they would asked him to start it and sit over it and when the Sardar got seated on scooter or motor cycle they would throw oil on him and set it in fire 9.
