2.                  On November 1st ,1984, at approximately 9:30 A.M., I saw a mob of about 100 men approaching the school from Munirka Village side who were carrying cans of petrol/ kerosene and bundles of rags. They broke the boundary fence and proceeded towards the ground where three buses and three matadors were parked.

3.                  When the miscreants were setting the vehicles on fire, I was coming out of the school office where I had gone to phone our school transporter and teachers to inform the students that the school would remain closed on 2nd & 3rd November in addition to 1st November, which had already been declared a holiday. I requested the miscreants not to set vehicles on fire as they belonged to the school, but they threatened to kill me if I did not run away and actually attacked me with the iron bars that they carried.

4.                  Then a big mob came from the side of Poorvi Marg and entered the school campus from both the main and domestic gates. They had come in about 6/8 DTC buses. I saw them coming out of these buses and about 5 buses were parked on the Palam Marg near the ‘T’ junction of Poorvi Marg. I saw some men directing 3 buses which moved on to Poorvi Marg towards Vasant Vihar Colony. The mob was raising slogans “Break and burn the school of Sardars.” The miscreants were armed with lathis, long bars and big pipes.

5.                  They had broken the glass panes of the doors & windows of the office and set fire to the office and the woodwork on the basement. All the three laboratories were ransacked broken and stores of Physics & Biology labs were set on fire.

6.                  Afterwards the mob moved towards the domestic quarters & one portion of the mob which had entered through the domestic gate had already set the Principal’s bungalow on fire. The other mob which came from the main gate side encircled the living quarters & set fire the residence of the Head Mistress & one of the drivers. They had broken window panes of the staff quarters by pelting stones. The Principal was rescued by the timely arrival of Mr. Chadha, Addl. D.C.P. of Hauz Khas. The Sikh families of the staff quarters were rescued by Nandita Haksar who had brought some volunteers from self financing quarters, Munirka Enclave & some students from JNU. For two nights we stayed in Munirka quarters & for two days in JNU Campus quarters.

7.                  The school suffered a loss of about 35 to 40 lakh which included burning of the Prinicipal’s bungalow, drivers quarters & ransacking of other staff quarters, laboratories & the office. FIR was duly lodged with SHO Vasant Vihar Police Station on behalf of the Principal, but till date no action has been taken on that FIR.
