I, Balbir Singh s/o Charat Singh,
aged 48 yrs. r/o Church Road, Bhogal, do hereby solemnly affirm and
declare as under:-

That I had a shop named Beta Auto
Stores below my residence. I had another shop of tyres etc. On
2-11-84, a mob of about 1000 persons came. They had lathis, iron rods,
bottles of kerosene oil, tins and flaming torches in their hands.

The mob attacked the Gurdwara. They
tried to break down the Gurdwara & also looting that – but the gate of
the Gurdwara had been locked and lot of furniture etc. was stacked
against the door. The door did not open – so they broke that down.

My house is very near the Gurdwara.
The mob thereafter turned to my house and attacked with stones and
lathis.

At that instance a police jeep arrived
in which SHO was sitting – I know SHO & recognized him. When the mob
failed to break down the resistance, the SHO opened fire (to help them),
one bullet struck the letter box.

The police did not take any action
against the mob and did nothing to scatter the miscreants. If the
police had helped us instead, then the mob could not have dared to
attack us.

When SHO saw that we were retreating,
he signalled to the crowd and then the mob looted our shops, three shops
were set on fire- one shop had two rooms attached to it- those also
burnt away. One tyre shop was also burnt.

In all this I suffered a loss of Rs.1
lakh.
