Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission

                    AFFIDAVIT OF SHRI TAJINDER SINGH S/O SHRI HARDIT SINGH AGED 43 YEARS, RESIDENT OF B-2/9, SAFDARJUNG ENCLAVE, NEW DELHI. 

            I, the above named deponent do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under:- 

1.                  I have a shop in the Chandni Chowk area.  On the evening of 31st October, 1984, I was going back to my house.  At about 6.30 PM when I was crossing the Ring Road from Bhikaji Cama Place, I saw about 50/60 policemen standing on that crossing.  About 100 yards towards Mohammed pur, there was a mob of about 20/25 persons mostly young people, who had stopped two buses and they were pulling out the sardars and burning their turbans.  They stopped my car also.  They smashed the front screen of my car, but I managed to escape by speeding the car. After reaching my house, which is about 100 yards further from that spot, I received telephone calls from my friends that we should move to some safer place.  After some time, some miscreants set the Baljit Guest House on fire and realizing the danger to our house also, we moved to the next house.  At about 9 PM the mob attacked my house and set the house on fire.

2.                  That on 1st November, 1984, at 10:30 am, I saw that two private buses had brought some goondas to our locality. These buses stopped near the temple of Africa Avenue. These people attacked my house and again set it on fire. There was another attack at my house in the evening at about 4/5 pm.

3.      I have suffered a loss of Rs.12 – 15 lakhs.
