Affidavit of Shri Gurdeep Singh S/o Late S. Balwant Singh, aged 47 yrs., R/o B-3/74, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi.

I, the above named deponent do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under: -

That I say that on 31-10-84, at about 6:30 pm, a mob came to South Extension Part – II, where my shop namely M/s Guchhi Shoes, E-28, South Extension Part –II, New Delhi is situated and broke the main door and all the side show-windows and smashed all glasses and looted the shop completely and destroyed every thing.
On 1-11-84, at about 10:30 am, a mob comprising of about 30 people between the age group of 25 to 30 yrs. came and started stoning our cars parked inside the boundary wall of our house and also stoned the windows, doors of our Bungalow, damaging them badly and went away.
On 1-11-84, at about 4:30 pm, a huge mob of about 300 / 400 people of the same age group assembled in front of my house. They were carrying identical iron rods with crow bar ends and cans containing petrol and kerosene oil, which they first sprinkled on our cars and set them on fire. The plot is three-side open. The mob rushed inside the house through the main gate breaking the remaining doors. They first started looting and after removing most of the valuables, set the house on fire by sprinkling petrol and kerosene oil. I have witnessed all this with my eyes.
I have suffered a loss of about more than Rs.5 lakhs. I saved my life and also the lives of my family members by seeking shelter from the neighbouring house. For more than a month, we had to remain away from our house for fear of our lives and to rebuilt the house.
